Smith Point, Long Island
The ocean has always been a favorite place for me. I guess because in it’s beauty I see a paradox. Strength and peacefulness in one body. The strength of the ocean was very apparent when I went to visit the Smith Point State Park during a wind advisory.
After walking through the tunnel from the parking lot to the ‘beach’, I stood on the dunes to take the pictures. The sea was so rough there was no beach to speak of.
Below are a few of the pictures that I took that afternoon.
- Seagrass Blowing
- Rough Seas
- Ocean Spray
- Strength
- Power
- Sea Spray II
- Waves Kept Crashing
- Such beautiful power
- Neverending
- Coming onto shore
- Rolling In

I SOOOOOOOO, love the pictures and am also a beach lover! I grew up in the Village of Babylon, and then at 20 moved to Florida. At the moment, I am in Ohio (temporarily), and trying to get back to Florida. I think I may have found an ‘ONLINE SOULMATE’ when it comes to the ocean. I’m such a stickler about it too, that when someone here says they went to the beach (Lake Erie) and I chide them and say ” No, dear, you went to the LAKE’ lol. Got this link from the quilling yahoo site, and OH BOY, you made my day!! Thanks so much, Kat
PS: I also have an eight foot palm tree that lights up in my living room(tacky, I know) but, it brings a little bit of the beach and sunshine I crave so much!!

Kat, So nice to meet a quilling and an ocean soulmate! And yes! An ocean is an ocean — the lakes just are not the same.
The thing about oceans that amaze me is how different each one is. I have seen the ocean from North Carolina, Florida, California and now New York and each seascape is totally amazing and unique.

PS. The eight foot palm tree is not tacky if it brings the sunshine into your home.
