Organizing With Outlook

11 Steps To Organizing Your EmailI was going through my emails this morning and realized that I have not written to any of my yahoo groups in a while. So, I started wading through my inbox to read all the emails and find ones that I wanted to respond to. What a chore! So many mails!

Suddenly, I realized that I could be organizing them to make life easier. After all, Outlook allows you to setup rules. So, I set up the rules for my three outlook groups and now I can easier browse through all my emails and not miss anything important. Each folder shows the number of unread messages —- very simple!

Keep reading to see the eleven steps for email organizing …

First you must create a folder. Right click on Inbox and click on "New Folder"
Type in the name of the folder (in this case quillers) and then click okay.
Now go to Tools --> Rules and Alerts

Click on New Rule Button
Select "Move Messages With Specifoc Words In The Subject to a Folder". Click Next.
Click on the underlined text "Specific Words" in the bottom box.

Type the words in the subject you want to identify with. In this case I typed in [quillers] as I wanted to move my quillers yahoo group email. Click Add and then Okay.
Click on the underlined text "Specified" in teh next line for Specicied Folders.
Highlight the Folder You Previously Created and Click OK

Double CHeck to Ensure that the setting are correct. Hit Next three times - till you are asked to name your rule.
Type in the name for your rule and click Finish.
And Now You Have Set Up A Rule to Help Oranize Your EMail.

    You must have written this for right-brained people like me. Thank you so much. We have GroupWise at work. It does not work well with other systems including my brain. Thanks for your detailed explanations. Now I am hopeful I can make a difference with my computer at home. Barbe

    Here’s a “quickie” How much trouble would it be to change this color to something darker like brown? I have astigmatism! Love your site!
