These pictures were taken at the same time as the Randell Pond pictures were taken. In fact they were taken in the parking lot across from the Randall Pond Trail Head.
I walked over to take a close up of the thistle itself and was greeted with a multitude of flying butterflies, bees and other insects.
While I continued to stand quietly in the center of the patch, they soon settled down and began eating again. Then I was able to start taking their photos.
