Beauty Hidden on Busy Long Island

Randall Pond Nature Trail is one of the “off the beaten path” places. I would dare say that many - if not a majority - of the Long Island residents do not know it exists.

While walking along this trail, it is so easy to forget the hustle and bustle of our every day lives and just relax and explore.  Even though the highway is a stone’s throw from this beautiful pond, you can lose yourself in the beauty that nature offers us.

So next time you are in the area, check out this little forgotten piece of paradise located in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.

Spring in the backyardI think the beauty of spring can be captured anywhere.

No need to get in the car and pay over $4 a gallon for gas — just walk in your yard and bask in the beauty that surrounds you.

I started this journey through my yard to take photos of the blooming dogwood for my best friend - Barbara. We had been talking about their lacey appearance a few days ago and since the dogwood is not prevalent in Oklahoma, I thought I would send her some shots of it.

Smith Point State Park

The ocean has always been a favorite place for me. I guess because in it’s beauty I see a paradox.

Strength and peacefulness in one body.

This strength of the ocean was very apparent when I went to visit the Smith Point State Park during a wind advisory.

After walking through the tunnel from the parking lot to the ‘beach’, I stood on the dunes to take the pictures. The sea was so rough there was no beach to speak of.

Smithtown BullWell, I did something new today with a theme that has been running since I started this blog. Waiting for spring!

Truly, it is almost here now. I mean, it is March already … time for the bulbs to be surfacing, the birds to be coming back, etc…

So I went searching for signs of spring with my camera.
