Jonathan at Stony BrookMy biggest Christmas present this year was the arrival of my son to New York.  My son, Jonathan, is a search and rescue medic in the United States Navy and for the past 8 months he has been stationed in Kuwait.

To simply say that I am proud of him would be a major understatement — but I also have been very worried.

Child on the streets of Port Jefferson on a cold day

I was walking along the streets of Port Jefferson last winter and just enjoying the sights and sounds of this small picturesque of waterside village on Long Island.

I had already enjoyed the antique stores and art galleries, browsed through the clothing, jewelry and home boutiques and was taking a few moments to just enjoy the streets of this village. The streets of Port Jefferson are lovely to amble around and then there is the harbor!  WOW!  Breathtaking. Read the rest of this entry »
