The Killing Sleep

The Vietnam Veterans were harassed when they came home. Harassed after risking their lives; harassed after watching fellow soldiers and friends get killed; harassed after witnessing some of the most horrendous things that one human could do to another. These soldiers deserved to receive the treatment that our current military receives – whether we believed in the war or not. Please, the next time you meet a Vietnam Veteran, thank him for his service to our country. They were following orders – not creating the policy.

Life Saving CPR Taught at the Pagosa Springs Medical Center

The sleepless nights were driving me crazy — especially since I wake up between 5:30 and 6:00, normally.  All kinds of horrible scenerios would flit through my mind as I tried to settle in for a good nights sleep.  What would happen if my Dad had a blood clot break loose and travel to his heart? What would happen if my mother had a heart attack? What would happen if my sister, who has had two major heart surgeries, should end up not breathing?  Finally, I decided to get my stressed out mind under control.  It was time to calm down and figure out what I could control and what was out of my control.  The only thing I thought of that would give me greater control of the situation was to take a CPR class …

Watching a Spring Snow at the Pagosa Brewing Co in Pagosa Springs, CO

A visit to the Pagosa Brewing Company during an unexpected spring snow warmed me up with its friendly atmosphere and wonderful food.  It was delightful to sit by the window and watch the snow fall in the beer gardens, enjoy good conversation and the gentle buzz of conversation around me.
