Write Along the Write Path – April 9th

Pagosa Springs was beautiful this Monday, April 9th, 2012. It was a warm, sunny beautiful day with soft white clouds scattered throughout the deep blue sky. Everyone I met the entire day seemed to be cheerful and in great spirits and the number of participants in the Write Along the Write path workshop doubled! It was simply a wonderful day!

Here are the basic guidelines that we follow in Write Along the Write Path:
Vocabulary Crossroads

Academic writing includes a formal tone, use of the third-person rather than first-person perspective, clear focus on the issue or topic rather than the author’s opinion, and precise word choice. Writers employing the formal academic style avoid jargon, slang, and abbreviations. It is easy, in everyday writing, to come off as a pompous person if you sling big or less often used words around carelessly, but in the academia world it is expected that a person know and utilize a vast vocabulary.
Watching a Spring Snow at the Pagosa Brewing Co in Pagosa Springs, CO

A visit to the Pagosa Brewing Company during an unexpected spring snow warmed me up with its friendly atmosphere and wonderful food. It was delightful to sit by the window and watch the snow fall in the beer gardens, enjoy good conversation and the gentle buzz of conversation around me.
Evernotes – The Lazy Person’s Research Tool

I spend a good amount of time every day researching and reading the news. For a long time, much of that research went to waste. You see, I am basically a lazy person and much of my past research was lost because I did not take adequate notes. That problem is now solved thanks to Evernotes. It is the lazy person’s research tool!
In my pre-Kindle Fire days, I would read the news online with a notebook beside me and tried to take copious notes. The initial notes of the day were clear and concise, but by the end of my research session the notes were shorter and harder to read.
